Is it a pub? Is it a school? No it’s…. Ernest Willows, the Cardiff Airship Pioneer.
Ted Richards looks at the ups and downs of the life of Ernest Willows who did not want to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a dentist. His passion instead lay with engineering and specifically aeronautics. He developed a series of innovative airship designs and most importantly, steerable propellers. His poor business sense and bad luck led to a difficult life and ultimately an untimely early death.
