Deep Time walks
Join us for a guided walk through Earth’s 4.6 billion-year evolutionary history over a distance of 4.6km, where each metre is 1 million years!
Together we will travel back in time to the start of our journey, beginning with the formation of the solar system. We’ll then walk forwards in time stopping at various points along the way to listen to a narrative, exploring key events such as the formation of the Moon, the oceans, the origins of life, and mass extinction events such as that of the dinosaurs 66 million years ago, right up to the present day.
This Deep Time Walk is an interactive way of grasping the vastness of Earth’s 4.6 billion-year history, highlighting how humans have evolved in the blink of a geological eye. It invites participants to view the world differently, explore our deep interrelationship with the more-than-human world, and encourage positive action to address the climate and nature emergencies.

Attendance is free and participants are welcome to make a voluntary donation to the Deep Time Walk project

Cardiff Chamber Orchestra | Amplified
Join the Cardiff Chamber Orchestra for a landmark concert celebrating disabled leadership and creativity at the heart of orchestral music and marking a series of important firsts. It connects the experiences of Joaquín Rodrigo, a blind composer, with Georgia Steel, a sight-impaired musician; this concert will be the first time Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez has been conducted by a sight-impaired musician. The performance also features home-grown Welsh talent in guitarist Oliver Manning and the world premiere of a newly commissioned work by disabled composer Charlotte McGregor-Graham, alongside music by historical composers who lived and worked with disabilities. Together, the programme reframes the orchestral canon through the lens of disabled excellence, past and present.
Programme
Mendelssohn: Die Hebriden
Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez (Oliver Manning, guitar)
McGregor-Graham: Emergence (world premiere)
Beethoven: Symphony No. 7
Tickets £15 | £10 Concessions

Opportunity to tour St Donat’s Castle – dates in March and June
Tours are now available to book at St Donat’s Castle, a stunning Grade I listed 12th-century castle set within 122 acres of woodland, coastline, valley and farmland along the Vale Heritage Coast. This is a rare opportunity to explore the remarkable history of the site, and visitors will discover the fascinating stories behind the castle, including its time as the home of William Randolph Hearst and the many Hollywood guests who stayed there.
Today, the castle forms part of UWC Atlantic, an international sixth-form college. As the campus is normally private and not open to the public, these guided tours provide a special and limited opportunity for visitors to step inside the castle.
